Edward Sedgwick

Edward Sedgwick was an American director, actor, writer, and producer whose career spanned the silent era through early television. Born in Galveston, Texas, to stage-performer parents, he began in vaudeville and entered films as a comic actor in 1915, often playing energetic baseball characters. He moved into directing in 1921, initially making serials and Westerns—including films with Tom Mix and Hoot Gibson—before becoming best known as a comedy specialist.
