Lera is a star Moscow obstetrician and a proponent of natural childbirth. One of her clients is Masha, the young mistress of influential businessman Shakhov. She is expected to give birth to his long-awaited heir, but due to complications during childbirth, the baby is born in critical condition. Shakhov initiates an investigation, the outcome of which will determine the fate of not only the clinic but also Lera herself — the main suspect in the tragedy.
