1918. A group of Russian aviators who had been training in France return to Russia and join the White Army. However, two pilots soon switch sides and fight in the Red Army's first aviation unit.
Upon returning from the front, Ivan Lukich discovered that his wife had been unfaithful to him. He left her and their daughter. Later, Ivan attempted to locate them, but was unsuccessful. Years passed. He now has another family, grown children, and a grandson. Quite by chance, he encounters Lisa, his daughter, who is convinced that her father died at the front.
