The father remained in the village to farm land, while the son lives far away from their homeland and country for business. At one point, the son returns to the village and then the crucial question is: who will take care of the land when the father dies?
It is a sentimental story about the father-son relationship, reminiscent of a photo from an old family album, over which one feels some sort of deep nostalgia. The focus of the plot is a poetic story about a father who lives in the village and his son who visits him regularly.
The screenplay was written immediately after the bombing of Novi Sad, 1999, but it was only a motive to speak up about the people that were humiliated for more than ten years in various ways, and that way became the victims of wrong politics, not only Milosevic's, but Western as well. The people who suffered most in the wars on this territory are the ones that had no influence of what so ever on the development of situation on the Balkan. But, at the same time. there was ambitious youth, that the sense of their life in these stormy time. The film is about them and that is why it sounds optimistic. Film is about the fact that we will always have the energy to survive senseless time and live normally after that.
In November 1956, many people fled to Tito in Yugoslavia and were confronted with socialism, which they called "man-faced". The film's heroes find temporary refuge on a Bunyevac farmer's farm and await their fate there, as well as in nearby Subotica, in a long-simmering family and social environment, under the supervision of local internal security officers. One of them, a participant in the 1942 massacre in Baška, later a carpenter, now posing as a revolutionary, tries to blackmail his host with old memories. A naive young man of faith tries to clear up the gendarme's past, his son, a Stalinist, and his role in the revolution, as does the penitent intellectual.
