The series follows Fang Jinchang, who was born into a poor family. Through hard work and diligence, he becomes a police inspector and is about to marry his fiancée, Xie Yueming. However, he has a despicable and malicious biological younger brother named Zhong Weishun. Zhong Weishun was separated from Fang Jinchang in their childhood and was adopted by a wealthy stepfather. After the death of his fiancee (Pauline Yeung), triad legend Ming Tin (Alex Man) washes his hands of the underworld, retreating to a quiet life running a small mahjong parlor. Ming Tin and Gam Sui are as close as brothers, but Gam Sui's father has a grudge against Ming Tin, leading to many barbs and bickers in this odd family. When Gam Sui and his father unwittingly stumble onto the wrong sides of the track, it's up to Ming Tin to pull them back with his old connections.

Later, the fourth prince killed Kangxi and altered the imperial edict, successfully usurping the throne and naming himself Emperor Yongzheng. From then on, Yongzheng ruthlessly eliminated dissidents and even betrayed those who helped him, causing Lusi to regret her involvement. Ultimately, the fourteenth prince plotted to assassinate Yongzheng with the help of Zeng Jing and Lusi, igniting a fierce battle.
